A 17-year-old high school student, Samuel G., was killed after being struck by an SUV while walking on Interstate 680 in San Ramon early Wednesday morning, November 27, 2024.
The fatal collision occurred at approximately 4:30 a.m. on the southbound lanes of I-680 near Crow Canyon Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the pedestrian was on foot when he was hit by a 2024 Subaru Crosstrek driven by a 63-year-old Richmond woman.
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. CHP Officer Tyler Hahn stated that the investigation is ongoing, and it remains unclear why the victim was on the freeway before dawn.
