A 35-year-old man from Los Angeles was killed in a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Wardlow Road and Palo Verde Avenue in Long Beach on Tuesday morning, November 26, 2024.
According to the Long Beach Police Department, the crash occurred at approximately 7:34 a.m. when a 2002 Toyota Sequoia traveling eastbound on Wardlow Road failed to stop at a red traffic signal. The Sequoia entered the intersection and collided with a 2014 Toyota Tundra, which was traveling southbound on Palo Verde Avenue on a green light.
The impact caused the Toyota Sequoia to overturn, ejecting its driver, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim’s identity is being withheld pending next-of-kin notification by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner.
The driver of the Toyota Tundra, a 41-year-old Lakewood resident, remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
Speed and distracted driving are being investigated as potential factors in the crash.
