An unhoused woman was killed after being struck by a vehicle in Fresno on Tuesday evening, November 19, 2024.
According to Fresno Police Department Lt. Leslie Williams, the collision occurred at around 6:12 p.m. at the intersection of Cesar Chavez Boulevard and Third Street.
The woman, who appeared to be in her 30s or 40s, stepped off the center median into the eastbound lanes of traffic when she was hit by an oncoming vehicle.
Emergency responders transported the woman to Community Regional Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.
The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. Authorities do not believe the driver was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
The investigation is ongoing.
