A Fresno man was killed, and two others were hospitalized after a single-vehicle crash in San Benito County on Sunday night, November 17, 2024.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a group of four Fresno residents were traveling in a Can-Am Maverick UTV on New Idria Road, about 80 miles southeast of Hollister, when the driver lost control.
The driver, identified as Gabriel L., 27, failed to negotiate a turn, sending the UTV into a large drainage ditch. The vehicle became airborne before landing back on its wheels.
David M., 39, of Fresno, was killed in the crash. The driver, along with two other passengers, sustained injuries, with two being hospitalized.
The driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and was booked into the San Benito County Jail.
The CHP is investigating the crash.
