[11-05-2024] Kern County, CA – 70-Year-Old Oregon Man Dies After Collision Involving Semi-Truck on Hageman Road

[11-05-2024] 70-Year-Old Oregon Man Dies After Collision Involving Semi-Truck on Hageman RoadA 70-year-old man from Roseburg, Oregon, was killed in a crash involving a semi-truck on Hageman Road in Kern County early Tuesday morning, November 5, 2024.

The California Highway Patrol reported that officers responded to the accident around 3:10 a.m. at the intersection of Hageman Road and Martin Avenue.

Initial findings indicate that the Oregon man was driving a 1973 Jeep with a trailer in tow, heading east on Hageman Road. At the same time, a 68-year-old driver from Apple Valley, California, was operating a 2022 International semi-truck traveling westbound on Hageman Road.

For reasons still unknown, the Jeep driver veered into the westbound lane, directly into the path of the semi-truck. The semi-truck driver attempted to avoid the collision but was unsuccessful, resulting in the Jeep hitting the left rear axle of the trailer.

After the impact, the Jeep continued moving east, ultimately veering into an orchard and overturning. The Jeep driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while the semi-truck driver was unharmed.

CHP officers are investigating the crash to determine the cause.

Don’t Know What To Do After An Accident?

Your safety and rights depend on what you do next after an accident. Remember the following steps if you find yourself in one:

  • Check yourself for any injuries.

  • Move your vehicle to the road shoulder if safe; turn on hazard lights.
  • Fully cooperate with law enforcement and stay until cleared to leave.
  • Document the scene and injuries with photos and videos.
  • Seek immediate medical attention.
  • Contact your insurance company and find a personal injury lawyer for legal advice.

What A Lawyer Can Do For You

Many victims put off calling a lawyer even if they sustain injuries after an accident. However, lawyers can help you in many ways. They can provide you with police reports, CCTV footage, and witness statements to strengthen your case. Your attorney will also negotiate with insurance companies to get you fair compensation. The best part is that they will do all of these things for you at no upfront cost. So if you’re injured in an accident, hire a personal injury attorney to recover medical bills, car repair costs, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
