[10-26-2024] 5-Year-Old Child Killed, Two Other Children Injured After Suspected DUI Crash on County Road MA suspected DUI crash on County Road M in Glenn County left a 5-year-old child dead and two other children injured on Saturday evening, October 26, 2024.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 6:00 p.m. when 24-year-old Savannah D. of Olivehurst was driving her 2009 Ford southbound on County Road M, south of County Road 27. 

The driver was reportedly traveling above the 55 mph speed limit when she turned the vehicle westward, causing it to veer off the road and collide with a power pole. The impact caused the Ford to overturn several times before coming to a stop along the west shoulder of the road.

As a result of the crash, the 5-year-old child was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other children, aged two and one, sustained minor injuries.

The CHP is conducting a preliminary investigation into the cause of the crash, and it appears that alcohol and drugs may have contributed to the incident. 

The driver was arrested following the crash, and the investigation is being led by Officer J. Blanken from the CHP Willows Area.
