[10-21-2024] 79-Year-Old Woman Fatally Struck by Hit-And-Run Driver in Apple ValleyA tragic hit-and-run incident claimed the life of a 79-year-old woman in Apple Valley, San Bernardino County, on Monday night, October 21, 2024.

The fatal collision occurred at around 10:15 p.m. along Outer Highway 18 South, just east of Pohez Road, as reported by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department. 

The woman was walking eastbound on the south side of the roadway when an unknown vehicle, also traveling east, struck her.

The driver did not stop to render aid and fled the scene immediately. No description of the vehicle or driver is currently available, officials said.

Emergency personnel transported the severely injured woman to a hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. Authorities have withheld her identity pending family notification.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department urges anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information about the driver to contact the Apple Valley Sheriff’s Station at (760) 240-7400 or Sheriff’s Dispatch at (760) 956-5001. 

The investigation is ongoing.
