An 8-year-old child was critically injured after being struck by a vehicle in central Bakersfield on Wednesday afternoon, October 16, 2024.
Emergency responders were dispatched to the intersection of Bank Street and Holtby Road around 1:45 p.m. following reports of a pedestrian collision. The incident occurred near Roosevelt Elementary, where school district officials confirmed the child as a student.
The Bakersfield Fire Department reported that the young victim was in critical condition and was transported to Kern Medical for emergency care.
The Bakersfield Police Department is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.
