Officers responded to a fatal rollover crash involving a single vehicle in Kern County on Saturday afternoon, October 5, 2024.
According to the California Highway Patrol Traffic Incident Page, the crash was reported at approximately 12:28 p.m. on Interstate 5 near the Lebec Curve.
Authorities stated that a white Toyota Prius struck multiple barricades in the northbound lanes and overturned, landing on its roof.
Four occupants were in the vehicle at the time. One fatality was confirmed by a coroner official, and another victim was airlifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The identity of the deceased will be disclosed once the family has been notified. The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
