[10-02-2024] One Person Killed After DUI Collision at Aquatic Park in BerkeleyA person was killed after a DUI collision in Berkeley on Wednesday morning, October 2, 2024.

According to the Berkeley Police Department, the incident occurred just off the roundabout at Berkeley’s South Aquatic Park at around 4:32 a.m.

Berkeley police received a call reporting that someone was pinned under a vehicle and died as a result of the collision. The driver, a 40-year-old man, was initially cooperating with police during the investigation but has since been arrested for DUI.

The victim was found in a sleeping bag that was partially in the roadway when the collision occurred. Motorists are advised to avoid the area, as the entrance to South Aquatic Park is expected to remain closed for several hours.

Berkeley PD’s Fatal Accident Investigation Team is handling the investigation.
