[08-12-2024] San Diego County, CA – NASSCO Employee Killed Following Workplace Accident in San Diego Shipyard

A NASSCO employee was killed following a workplace accident in San Diego on Monday afternoon, August 12, 2024.

According to the responding officials, the incident happened at the NASSCO shipyard along Harbor Drive and within the Barrio Logan area.

NASSCO officials confirmed the worker’s death but did not provide specific details about the circumstances leading to the incident. The deceased, identified as JC A., a father of four and a grandfather of six, had worked at NASSCO for nearly 30 years. It is said that the victim’s family heard about the tragic news from a coworker sometime after 1:00 p.m.

The family, who waited outside the shipyard, said they were informed that Cal/OSHA was at the scene but were not provided with additional details. NASSCO, meanwhile, released a statement expressing their deep sorrow for their fallen worker.

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding JC A.’s death is ongoing. No further information was immediately available.
