[07-29-2024] San Diego County, CA – 83-Year-Old Male Pedestrian Dies After Being Struck by Vehicle in Oceanside

An 83-year-old male pedestrian passed away in a hospital after being struck by a vehicle in Oceanside on Monday, July 29, 2024.

According to the Oceanside Police Department, the incident happened around 7:30 a.m. at the intersection of Rancho Del Oro Drive and Via Rancho.

The elderly pedestrian, later identified as 83-year-old Henry B. from Oceanside, was crossing the road outside of a crosswalk when he was hit by an unspecified vehicle. He was then rushed to a nearby hospital after sustaining serious injuries. 

He fought for his life for a week, but ultimately succumbed to his injuries this Monday, August 5, 2024.

Authorities confirmed that the driver was not arrested, and no charges are pending. The driver remained on the scene and fully cooperated with the investigation.

No further details were released, and authorities are gathering all the necessary information to determine the factors leading to the incident.
