[08-06-2024] Riverside County, CA – One Person Killed, Another Injured After Two-Vehicle Crash Along I-15 in Murrieta

One person was killed, while another was injured after a two-vehicle collision on Tuesday morning, August 6, 2024, on Interstate 15 in Murrieta.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 6:18 a.m. on northbound I-15 at Winchester Road.

The incident involved a pickup truck and a Toyota Camry in the No. 2 lane of the freeway, though the exact circumstances remain unclear.

Reports from the scene indicate that the pickup truck, which appeared to be equipped with oversized tires, overturned into the center divider. The driver was ejected from the cab and flung onto the southbound shoulder.

CHP officers and Murrieta Fire & Rescue personnel arrived at the location within minutes, leading to a temporary shutdown of both sides of I-15. The pickup truck driver, whose identity has not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Toyota Camry sustained unspecified minor injuries, but it is unclear whether hospitalization was required.

Lanes on both sides of the freeway were intermittently opened and closed while the wreckage was cleared and a preliminary investigation was conducted. All lanes were fully reopened by 10:30 a.m.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Temecula CHP office at 951-466-4300.

Don’t Know What To Do After An Accident?

Your safety and rights depend on what you do next after an accident. Remember the following steps if you find yourself in one:

  • Move your vehicle to the road shoulder if safe; turn on hazard lights.
  • Fully cooperate with law enforcement and stay until cleared to leave.
  • Document the scene and injuries with photos and videos.
  • Seek immediate medical attention.
  • Contact your insurance company and find a personal injury lawyer for legal advice.

What A Lawyer Can Do For You

Many victims put off calling a lawyer even if they sustain injuries after an accident. However, lawyers can help you in many ways. They can provide you with police reports, CCTV footage, and witness statements to strengthen your case. Your attorney will also negotiate with insurance companies to get you fair compensation. The best part is that they will do all of these things for you at no upfront cost. So if you’re injured in an accident, hire a personal injury attorney to recover medical bills, car repair costs, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
