[08-04-2024] Marin County, CA – One Person Injured After Hit-And-Run DUI Collision Involving Police Pursuit in San Rafael

One person was injured after a hit-and-run DUI collision involving a police pursuit in San Rafael on Sunday evening, August 4, 2024.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at about 6:45 p.m. along northbound Highway 101 on the Smith Ranch Road off-ramp.

Officers said they spotted a Nissan Altima with a missing tire traveling northbound on Highway 101 and pursued the vehicle toward the Smith Ranch Road exit. The Nissan driver crossed the opposite lane and drove the wrong way, resulting in a crash with an oncoming Chevrolet Silverado.

The Chevy driver reportedly suffered minor injuries as a result of the crash. It is not immediately known if they were transported to the hospital for treatment. Their name, age, and current condition were not provided.

Authorities later confirmed that the Nissan driver, later identified as 24-year-old San Francisco native Gregory H., was intoxicated at the time of the accident. He was arrested and was booked into the Marin County Jail on several charges, including felony DUI and hit-and-run causing injuries.

No further information was immediately available.
