INJURED IN AN ACCIDENT?

[08-05-2024] Los Angeles County, CA – Three People Killed, Another Seriously Injured After Single-Vehicle Collision Along 5 Freeway in Castaic

Three people were killed, while another was seriously injured after a single-vehicle collision in Castaic, Los Angeles County, on Monday afternoon, August 5, 2024.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal accident happened at about 4:30 p.m. on the southbound Golden State (5) Freeway near Templin Highway.

CHP reported that a black Nissan Armada SUV drove down an embankment along the southbound 5 Freeway, killing most of its occupants and badly injuring one. It is still unclear how or why the SUV crashed and if any other vehicles were involved.

Responding personnel quickly assessed the situation upon arrival. It was then confirmed that three men were killed as a result of the collision. A fourth victim was reportedly rescued from the wreckage and was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

None of the people involved were identified yet. It is still unclear if the surviving person in the crash was the driver of the black SUV or one of its passengers.

CHP closed all lanes of the southbound 5 Freeway around the crash site for several hours while they investigated and cleared the scene.

Additional information was not immediately available, and the authorities are still gathering all the necessary details to determine the factors leading up to the incident.
