A 37-year-old man was killed after being struck by a vehicle in San Diego on Friday evening, August 8, 2024.
According to the San Diego Police Department, the crash happened around 6:58 p.m. at the 4200 block of Del Sol Boulevard in the Otay Mesa West neighborhood.
Authorities stated that a 37-year-old man was walking across the street, heading south from the north sidewalk of Kostner Drive. At the same time, a 2010 Toyota Rav4 was traveling west on Del Sol when it failed to stop at a stop sign and collided with the pedestrian.
The man suffered serious head trauma and was transported to a hospital, where he died. It is unknown if the driver of the Toyota, identified as a 77-year-old woman, remained at the scene.
Investigation showed that DUI does not appear to be the factor in the fatal collision. The authorities are still gathering all the necessary information to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
