[07-26-2024] Riverside County, CA – Two People Injured Following Two-Vehicle Head-On Collision Along Highway 74 Near Anza

Two people were injured following a two-vehicle head-on collision near Anza, Riverside County, on Friday afternoon, July 26, 2024.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the traffic accident happened at about 4:10 p.m. along Highway 74 just east of Anza.

The circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear, but both vehicles involved reportedly came to rest on the eastbound lanes of the highway. When authorities arrived, they found one driver trapped inside the wreckage of their car, prompting extrication procedures from the rescuers. The other driver, meanwhile, crawled out of the crash on his own, said CHP.

The rescued driver, whose name, age, and gender were not specified, sustained major injuries as a result of the crash. A Reach Air helicopter was called to airlift the patient to the hospital for immediate medical care. The other driver, who was also unnamed, suffered minor to moderate injuries and was transported via ground ambulance.

CHP is still investigating the incident. It was later determined that both drivers were not under the influence of either drugs or alcohol when the collision occurred.

Authorities shut down both sides of Highway 74 at the crash site as a precaution.

Additional information was not immediately available.

Don’t Know What To Do After An Accident?

Your safety and rights depend on what you do next after an accident. Remember the following steps if you find yourself in one:

  • Check yourself for any injuries.
  • Stay on the scene, call 9-1-1, and wait for emergency responders.
  • Move your vehicle to the road shoulder if safe; turn on hazard lights.
  • Fully cooperate with law enforcement and stay until cleared to leave.
  • Document the scene and injuries with photos and videos.
  • Seek immediate medical attention.
  • Contact your insurance company and find a personal injury lawyer for legal advice.

What A Lawyer Can Do For You

Many victims put off calling a lawyer even if they sustain injuries after an accident. However, lawyers can help you in many ways. They can provide you with police reports, CCTV footage, and witness statements to strengthen your case. Your attorney will also negotiate with insurance companies to get you fair compensation. The best part is that they will do all of these things for you at no upfront cost. So if you’re injured in an accident, hire a personal injury attorney to recover medical bills, car repair costs, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
