According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly incident occurred just before 10:30 p.m. along Highway 46 west of West Center Street.

Officers said that a 2021 Mercedes driven by a 30-year-old woman from Paso Robles was traveling westbound on the highway using the eastbound lanes when it collided head-on against a 2022 Honda. Following that, another eastbound vehicle, just behind the Honda, also crashed into the car.
