[07-20-2024] Monterey County, CA – One Person Killed, Another Injured After Multi-Vehicle DUI Collision Along Highway 101

[07-20-2024] One Person Killed, Another Injured After Multi-Vehicle DUI Collision Along Highway 101 One person was killed, and another was injured after a multi-vehicle DUI collision in Salinas on Saturday afternoon, July 20, 2024.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the traffic incident happened around 1:06 p.m. along Highway 101 near Laurel Drive.

Authorities stated that a 77-year-old Salinas man was pronounced dead after a vehicle crashed into him while he was changing the tire of a pickup truck along the freeway. Investigation showed that the vehicle, driven by 24-year-old Jose Ramiro S., was traveling along Highway 101 when, for some reason, it veered off the road and crashed into the victim.

CHP said that the impact of the crash had pushed the truck into the rear of another car, while the suspect’s vehicle collided with another car before coming to a stop.

Another person standing outside the pickup truck also sustained injuries following the collision. The extent of their injuries was not immediately known, but they are expected to be okay.

Ramiro S. was then arrested for DUI-related crashes after the authorities found that alcohol was a factor in the collision.

The crash remains under investigation. Further information on the incident has yet to be released by the responding officials.

What A Lawyer Can Do For You

Many victims put off calling a lawyer even if they sustain injuries after an accident. However, lawyers can help you in many ways. They can provide you with police reports, CCTV footage, and witness statements to strengthen your case. Your attorney will also negotiate with insurance companies to get you fair compensation. The best part is that they will do all of these things for you at no upfront cost. So if you’re injured in an accident, hire a personal injury attorney to recover medical bills, car repair costs, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
