[07-17-2024] One Person Killed, Another Injured After Multi-Vehicle Crash Near Napa County AirportOne person was killed, and another was injured after a multi-vehicle crash in Napa County on Wednesday night, July 17, 2024. 

According to the responding officials, the traffic incident happened shortly after 11:13 p.m. on the Airport Boulevard intersection, west on Highway 12. 

Authorities stated that a 2019 Volkswagen Golf, driven by Cesar M., was traveling on Highway 29 toward Vallejo. Meanwhile, a 66-year-old man from Sparta was driving a 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 with an RV trailer at about 75 mph, approaching the Airport Boulevard intersection. 

For unknown reasons, the Dodge continued through the intersection without stopping at a red light. As a result, it crashed into the Volkswagen, causing the vehicle to veer southwest and hit a pole. Cesar M. was pronounced dead at around 12:30 a.m. Thursday. 

After the initial collision, the Dodge continued west into the eastbound lanes of Airport Boulevard, crashing into a 2002 GMC Sierra 2500. The driver of the third vehicle, described as a Napa man, suffered neck and chest injuries and was transported to the Providence Queen of the Valley Medical Center for treatment. 

The factors leading up to the crash remain unclear. It is unknown whether drugs, alcohol, or speeding played a role. 

No further information was released. Investigations are ongoing.
