[06-30-2024] San Diego County, CA – Six People Injured Following Multi-Vehicle Rear-End Chain Collision in Sherman Heights

Six people were injured following a multi-vehicle rear-end chain collision in Sherman Heights, San Diego, early Sunday morning, June 30, 2024.

According to the San Diego Police Department, the incident happened around 1:30 a.m. at 2400 J Street near the intersection with 24th Street in the Sherman Heights neighborhood.

SDPD said a 2015 BMW driven by an unnamed 18-year-old with five passengers was heading eastbound on J Street. At the same time, a 1998 Honda was said to have stopped facing east, mid-block at 2400 J Street for some reason.

The BMW then rear-ended the stopped Honda, pushing it toward two other parked vehicles and eventually slamming into them.

The five passengers aboard the BMW all suffered injuries in varying degrees. They were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The 18-year-old driver of the vehicle, meanwhile, reportedly sustained an open fracture to his lower left leg.

It is still unclear if any occupants were inside the Honda when the crash occurred and why it was stopped in the residential roadway. The damage to the other two parked vehicles has yet to be specified.

SDPD is still investigating the accident. Anyone with information is asked to contact the authorities at 888-580-8477.

Don’t Know What To Do After An Accident?

Your safety and rights depend on what you do next after an accident. Remember the following steps if you find yourself in one:

  • Check yourself for any injuries.
  • Stay on the scene, call 9-1-1, and wait for emergency responders.
  • Move your vehicle to the road shoulder if safe; turn on hazard lights.
  • Fully cooperate with law enforcement and stay until cleared to leave.
  • Document the scene and injuries with photos and videos.
  • Seek immediate medical attention.
  • Contact your insurance company and find a personal injury lawyer for legal advice.

What A Lawyer Can Do For You

Many victims put off calling a lawyer even if they sustain injuries after an accident. However, lawyers can help you in many ways. They can provide you with police reports, CCTV footage, and witness statements to strengthen your case. Your attorney will also negotiate with insurance companies to get you fair compensation. The best part is that they will do all of these things for you at no upfront cost. So if you’re injured in an accident, hire a personal injury attorney to recover medical bills, car repair costs, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
