[06-25-2024] Kern County, CA – Man Killed, Woman Injured After Two-Vehicle Head-On Crash on Highway 155

[06-25-2024] Man Killed, Woman Injured After Two-Vehicle Head-On Crash on Highway 155A man was killed, and a woman was injured after a two-vehicle head-on crash in Kern County on Tuesday night, June 25, 2024. 

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened around 10:16 p.m. on Highway 155 near Sawmill Road.

Preliminary investigation showed that a Toyota Prius was traveling along the westbound lane of the freeway when, for unknown reasons, it crossed over the double yellow lines and began driving the wrong way. As a result, it collided head-on with a Chevrolet Impala that was traveling in the eastbound lane of the freeway. 

Authorities identified the driver of the Toyota as a 44-year-old man from Bakersfield and the driver of the Chevrolet as a 34-year-old Bakersfield woman. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, while the woman survived and was transported to Kern Medical with major injuries. 

As of this writing, the condition of the injured woman was not disclosed. It is unknown what caused the collision, but drugs and alcohol were being investigated as factors by the police. 

Additional information regarding the incident has yet to be released by the authorities. Investigations are ongoing.
