[06-24-2024] San Bernardino County, CA – One Person Seriously Injured After Vehicle Vs. Walmart Tractor-Trailer Collision in Apple Valley

[06-24-2024] One Person Seriously Injured After Vehicle Vs. Walmart Tractor-Trailer Collision in Apple ValleyOne person was seriously injured after a vehicle vs. Walmart tractor-trailer collision in Apple Valley on Monday morning, June 24, 2024.

According to the Apple Valley Fire Protection District, the incident occurred around 5:30 a.m. along Dale Evans Parkway between Morro Street and I-5 Freeway, near the High Desert Juvenile Detention and Assessment Center.

Initial reports indicated that the Walmart truck was going south on Dale Evans Parkway toward the company’s distribution center. At the same time, a white Hyundai sedan was heading north on the same roadway. The Hyundai suddenly veered directly into the truck’s path for unknown reasons, resulting in the crash.

The impact of the collision caused the Hyundai’s motor unit to become dislodged, causing it to land several feet away from the crash site and into the desert.

The vehicle’s driver, its sole occupant, reportedly suffered serious injuries and was initially taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center before being airlifted to a specialized trauma center. The Walmart truck driver, meanwhile, appeared to be uninjured immediately following the incident.

None of the people involved in the accident have been identified yet.

As a precaution, Dale Evans Parkway was closed in both directions between Stoddard Wells Road and I-15 while the authorities investigated and cleared the area.

The Apple Valley Police Department is now conducting the investigation. No further details were immediately provided.
