An 81-year-old man was killed after being struck by a vehicle in Simi Valley on Tuesday afternoon, June 18, 2024.
According to the Simi Valley Police Department, the fatal collision happened shortly after 5:20 p.m. at Ulysses Street and Socrates Avenue, near Arroyo Elementary School.
Authorities said that an 81-year-old man from Simi Valley was crossing Ulysses in the marked crosswalk, heading north, when he was hit by a white BMW SUV turning left from Socrates onto Ulysses. The victim, identified as Leopoldo B., was transported by ambulance to a trauma center, where he died.
Both parties were not impaired at the time of the crash. The driver of the vehicle, whose name, age, and gender were not disclosed, stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. As of writing, there is no word yet on the official cause of the collision.
The crash remains under investigation. Further details will be released by the authorities.
