[06-08-2024] Multiple Injuries Reported After Two-Vehicle Hit-And-Run Collision in Moorpark Multiple injuries were reported after a two-vehicle hit-and-run collision in Moorpark on Saturday evening, June 8, 2024. 

According to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened just before 9:45 p.m. at the intersection of Los Angeles Avenue and Tierra Rejada Road. 

Authorities stated that a Honda Odyssey minivan was heading westbound on Los Angeles Avenue when it was struck by a Ford Explorer that ran a red light along Tierra Rejada. The occupants of the minivan sustained injuries and were taken to an area hospital for further treatment. Details on the total number of people injured and their condition were not yet released. 

As the investigation continued, a resident of the 100 block of 2nd Street reported to the authorities about a Ford Explorer that struck and killed their dog. The driver of the said vehicle was reportedly fled the scene. Upon arrival, the authorities confirmed that the unoccupied Ford with damage was consistent with the collision at Los Angeles and Tierra Rejada.

Officials used evidence found in the car to identify the suspect as 29-year-old Jesus Sanchez V. of Moorpark. The suspect was arrested for felony and misdemeanor hit-and-run charges. 

The investigation into the collision is ongoing.
