[06-16-2024] Bicyclist Killed After Being Struck by Two Vehicles Involving DUI in PortervilleA bicyclist was killed after being struck by two vehicles involving DUI in Porterville on Sunday night, June 16, 2024.

According to the Porterville Police Department, the deadly incident occurred at about 8:56 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 65 and Pioneer Avenue.

Police said that the bicyclist was riding along the northbound lanes of Highway 65 using the center median when he was struck, for some reason, by two different vehicles. Officers and medical responders arrived at the crash site just minutes after the collision, but the victim had already died due to his injuries.

It is unknown how many people occupied the two vehicles at the time of the accident, but authorities said that none of them sustained any injuries. The driver of one of the involved vehicles was determined to be under the influence of alcohol when the collision happened and was arrested promptly.

Police are still investigating the circumstances behind the fatal accident. None of the parties involved were identified yet.
