[06-16-2024] Two People Killed, Another Seriously Injured After Two-Vehicle Crash in PortervilleTwo people were killed, while another was seriously injured after a two-vehicle crash in Porterville on Sunday evening, June 16, 2024.

According to the Porterville Police Department, the fatal traffic collision happened at around 7:17 p.m. in the area of Newcomb Street and Teapot Dome Avenue.

Investigators said that a 29-year-old man was driving south on Newcomb Street at an unverified but high rate of speed when he failed to stop at a stop sign posted at the roadway’s intersection with Teapot Dome Avenue, resulting in a collision with another vehicle.

The vehicle that was struck was carrying two people inside at the time of the incident: a 60-year-old male driver and a 74-year-old female passenger. Both of them were killed in the accident. Police have yet to confirm the relationship between the two.

The 29-year-old man, meanwhile, survived the accident but suffered major injuries. He was transported to a local hospital for further medical care.

No additional information was immediately available. Police are still determining what factors may have contributed to the deadly accident.
