A child was killed after being struck by a vehicle near El Segundo on Saturday afternoon, June 15, 2024.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the fatal crash happened in the 12200 block of Vista del Mar near Dockweiler State Beach and just outside the border of El Segundo.
LAPD said that the child was hit by a vehicle that was apparently backing out of private property. The young victim, who the officers described as possibly being a 2-year-old girl, died as a result of the incident.
The driver’s true relationship with the victim is yet to be confirmed. Current evidence suggests that a parent accidentally ran over their own child.
Further information was not immediately available, and the authorities are still gathering all the necessary details to determine the factors that led to the tragic collision.
