[06-14-2024] Santa Clara County, CA – One Person Killed Following Pedestrian Vs. Vehicle Collision on Highway 87 in San Jose

One person was killed following a pedestrian vs. vehicle collision in San Jose early Friday morning, June 14, 2024. 

According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal crash occurred at around 2:50 a.m. on Highway 87 near the northbound off-ramp to Taylor Street. 

Authorities stated that a pedestrian was found lying on the highway after getting hit by a vehicle. The victim, whose name, age, and gender were not disclosed, was pronounced dead at the scene. 

It is unknown whether the driver of the vehicle that struck the pedestrian fled the scene or cooperated with the authorities. There is no description yet of the make and model of their car. The role of drugs, alcohol, and speeding, is also being investigated as factors of the crash.

The northbound lanes of the highway to Taylor Street were shut down to give way for further investigation. 

No additional details on the collision were immediately available. The authorities are gathering all the necessary information to determine the cause of the accident.
