[06-12-2024] Alameda County, CA – 56-Year-Old Man Killed Following Multi-Vehicle Collision in Fremont

A 56-year-old man was killed following a multi-vehicle collision in Fremont on Wednesday night, June 12, 2024.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 10:19 p.m. at the Fremont Boulevard south off-ramp on I-880. 

Authorities stated that six vehicles were involved in the collision, but the circumstances leading to the accident were still unclear. Details on the vehicles, including their make and model, were not immediately known. 

Police said that a man, 56, from Newark, was pronounced dead in the crash. It is unknown if that person is a driver or a passenger, as information on the people involved was not disclosed. At this time, the identity of the deceased person is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. 

All northbound lanes of I-880 were shut down after the fatal crash and were reopened by Thursday morning. 

Further details on the collision have yet to be released by the authorities. Investigations are ongoing. 

Witnesses are asked to come forward and help the police in determining the official cause of the crash.
