[06-03-2024] 88-Year-Old Female Pedestrian Killed After Being Struck by Vehicle in Shasta LakeAn 88-year-old female pedestrian was killed after being struck by a vehicle in the City of Shasta Lake on Monday afternoon, June 3, 2024.

According to the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office, the fatal vehicle vs. pedestrian crash happened at about 1:51 p.m. on Shasta Dam Boulevard, just west of McConnel Avenue.

SCSO said that the elderly pedestrian was crossing Shasta Dam Boulevard outside of a crosswalk when a Cadillac sedan driving west struck her. The 88-year-old woman reportedly sustained major injuries as a result of the collision and later died at the hospital after receiving treatment.

It was later discovered that the involved vehicle had several items hanging from the rear-view mirror, which the authorities believe may have hindered the driver’s vision while on the road. According to the SCSO, the sedan driver, 57-year-old Pamela V., a City of Shasta Lake resident, was cited on-scene for Object Reducing Driver’s View and Unsafe Speed.

No further information was immediately available. Until next of kin is notified, the authorities cannot identify the deceased.

The investigation is ongoing.
