[06-02-2024] Sacramento County, CA – One Person Killed, Another Injured Following Suspected DUI Hit-And-Run Crash on Business 80

[06-02-2024] One Person Killed, Another Injured Following Suspected DUI Hit-And-Run Crash on Business 80One person was killed, while another was injured following a suspected DUI and hit-and-run crash in Sacramento on Sunday night, June 2, 2024.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal collision happened around 9:15 p.m. along the Business 80 northbound freeway lanes near the Exposition Boulevard offramp.

CHP confirmed that the incident involved a Toyota Corolla and a Nissan Altima. It is said that the Toyota, driven by an unnamed man in his 30s, went the wrong way for some reason, resulting in a head-on collision with the Nissan. The Toyota driver then fled the scene.

Initial reports suggested that the Nissan had two occupants during the collision: the driver and a female passenger. The driver suffered unknown injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital for further medical care. The passenger, later identified as 30-year-old Cheryl R., died at the scene.

CHP was able to track down the Toyota driver later on and arrested that person on suspicion of DUI and hit-and-run. The identity of the arrested driver has not yet been disclosed publicly.

The vehicular accident blocked multiple lanes along the freeway, causing significant traffic delays for other motorists trying to pass through the area.

Information about any additional developments was not immediately available. Police work is underway.

What A Lawyer Can Do For You

Many victims put off calling a lawyer even if they sustain injuries after an accident. However, lawyers can help you in many ways. They can provide you with police reports, CCTV footage, and witness statements to strengthen your case. Your attorney will also negotiate with insurance companies to get you fair compensation. The best part is that they will do all of these things for you at no upfront cost. So if you’re injured in an accident, hire a personal injury attorney to recover medical bills, car repair costs, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
