A 67-year-old male pedestrian was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle in San Diego on Monday afternoon, May 27, 2024.
According to the San Diego Police Department, the fatal accident occurred around 2:20 p.m. at the 6900 block of Clairemont Mesa Boulevard, just outside of Clairemont Mesa East.
SDPD said that a 2012 Ford F-150 pickup truck driven by a 68-year-old man hit the pedestrian after he stepped in front of the vehicle for some reason. It is said that the vehicle also had the right-of-way on the off-ramp of Interstate 805 when the crash took place.
The elderly victim was rushed to a nearby hospital after sustaining serious but non-life-threatening injuries, including a fractured skull.
The cause of the incident is still under investigation, but police have ruled out alcohol as a factor.
