According to the Riverside County Fire Department, the traffic crash happened at about 6:00 a.m. in the 72100 block of Highway 111, near the city’s border with Rancho Mirage.

Authorities believe that the involved vehicle was traveling at a high speed when it crashed into a fence. Upon arrival, firefighters needed to extricate two people from the wreckage. 

One of the extricated individuals was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other was transported to a nearby hospital after sustaining major injuries. It is unclear who among the two were the driver and the passenger.

The authorities are still looking for any relevant details that could help them pinpoint the cause of the incident and the factors that may have contributed to it.

Additional information was not immediately available. The investigation is ongoing.
