[05-14-2024] San Francisco County, CA – One Person Hospitalized After Police Chase Turned Into Two-Vehicle Hit-And-Run Collision in Richmond District

[05-14-2024] One Person Hospitalized After Police Chase Turned Into Two-Vehicle Hit-And-Run Collision in Richmond DistrictOne person was hospitalized after a police chase turned into a two-vehicle hit-and-run collision in Richmond District, San Francisco, on Tuesday morning, May 14, 2024.

According to the San Francisco Police Department, the incident occurred just after 10:30 a.m. at Cabrillo Street and 8th Avenue.

SFPD said it all began when they received a call to a robbery case around the corner of Balboa Street and 26th Avenue. Two suspects robbed a woman and then quickly jumped in their car, a gray Honda Accord, to escape, prompting a police chase that was called off for public safety. The suspects, meanwhile, continued along Cabrillo Street.

A witness told the police that the Honda barrelled down Cabrillo at speeds between 65 and 70 mph before ultimately crashing into a Mini Cooper approaching the 8th Avenue intersection. The Mini Cooper slammed into a nearby pole as a result of the incident, while the Honda crashed into an apartment building. Allegedly, the suspects’ vehicle almost hit an elderly man living in the apartment.

The two suspects then jumped out of their car and tried escaping on foot in different directions. Witnesses were able to photograph the two men following the collision, which then helped the police to detain them eventually. SFPD has yet to release the suspects’ names and confirm whether or not the two were injured.

The driver of the Mini Cooper, who was later identified as Christina S., suffered some scratches and possible bruised ribs. She spent a day at the hospital to recover.

Additional information was not immediately available. Police investigation continues.

Don’t Know What To Do After An Accident?

Your safety and rights depend on what you do next after an accident. Remember the following steps if you find yourself in one:

  • Check yourself for any injuries.

  • Move your vehicle to the road shoulder if safe; turn on hazard lights.
  • Fully cooperate with law enforcement and stay until cleared to leave.

  • Seek immediate medical attention.
  • Contact your insurance company and find a personal injury lawyer for legal advice.

What A Lawyer Can Do For You

Many victims put off calling a lawyer even if they sustain injuries after an accident. However, lawyers can help you in many ways. They can provide you with police reports, CCTV footage, and witness statements to strengthen your case. Your attorney will also negotiate with insurance companies to get you fair compensation. The best part is that they will do all of these things for you at no upfront cost. So if you’re injured in an accident, hire a personal injury attorney to recover medical bills, car repair costs, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
