A 30-year-old male cyclist was killed after a bicycle vs. vehicle collision in Stanislaus County on Wednesday morning, May 15, 2024.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal incident occurred at around 7:00 a.m. on East Avenue, near Santa Fe Avenue.
CHP officers said that the bicyclist was riding along the roadway when, for some reason, he was struck by an eastbound pickup truck. The victim was said to be wearing a helmet but had still died as a result of the crash.
The roadway was blocked off for more than 2 hours as officers investigated and cleared up the scene.
It is said that drugs and alcohol are not factors in the deadly accident. The pickup truck driver was not arrested.
No further details were immediately provided. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
