Two female drivers were hospitalized following a two-vehicle DUI head-on collision on Highway 180 in Fresno on early Wednesday morning, May 15, 2024.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 1:30 a.m. along the eastbound lane of Highway 180 near Chestnut Avenue.
Authorities stated that a Honda Accord and a Chevy Malibu collided head-on, resulting in injuries and significant vehicle damage. They have received a report about a wrong-way driver who was traveling westbound in the eastbound lane and collided with another car.
The wrong-way driver is identified as a woman in her 30s who was driving a Chevy. Meanwhile, the driver of the Honda Accord is a woman in her 50s who sustained injuries and was transported to the hospital. The extent of her injuries, as well as her condition, remain unknown at this time.
Police said that the wrong-way driver was also hospitalized and is facing felony DUI charges.
The authorities have yet to release additional information regarding the crash. Investigations are ongoing.
