One person was killed after a suspected drunk driver caused a fiery two-vehicle crash in Corona early Monday morning, April 29, 2024.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal collision happened just before 12:30 a.m. on the 91 Freeway, near the Interstate 15 interchange.
CHP reported that a Toyota 4Runner was traveling westbound on the 91 Freeway when a Lincoln Mark LT suddenly clipped it on the rear. This caused the Toyota to overturn before engulfing in flames.
It is said that the driver of the overturned vehicle was trapped inside as the car burned. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after.
The driver of the Lincoln, later identified as 24-year-old Christopher M. from Santa Ana, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, causing death.
Additional information was not immediately available. CHP is encouraging potential witnesses to contact them and assist with the ongoing investigations.
