[04-24-2024] One Person Killed Following Vehicle Vs. Semi-Truck Collision Along Douglas AvenueOne person was killed following a vehicle vs. semi-truck collision in Kings County on Wednesday night, April 24, 2024.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly incident happened at about 7:48 p.m. around the area of 12 3/4 Avenue and Douglas Avenue, just south of Laton.

Officers said that a Chevrolet Silverado traveling westbound on Douglas Avenue failed to stop at the intersection’s posted stop sign, resulting in a crash against a southbound semi-truck on 12 3/4 Avenue. 

The driver of the Silverado, only identified as a man in his 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene. The semi-truck driver, meanwhile, appears to be uninjured and stayed on the crash site.

Authorities are still trying to figure out the cause of the crash and the factors leading up to it. At this time, drugs and alcohol impairment are not seen as probable causes.

Investigations are ongoing.
