A 44-year-old DUI driver suffered major injuries, and two others sustained minor injuries after a multi-vehicle crash on southbound Highway 99 in Bakersfield early Wednesday morning, October 7, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened at around 2:08 a.m. on southbound Highway 99, just north of Lerdo Highway. T
CHP said the 44-year-old man was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Camaro when he made an unsafe turning movement and crashed into a Toyota Tacoma driven by a 33-year-old man.
After the initial collision, the Camaro driver was lying in the roadway when he was hit by a 2004 Toyota Sienna driven by a 55-year-old woman.
The Camaro driver suffered major injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment. He was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
The driver of the Sienna and one passenger sustained minor injuries and were also transported to the hospital. The Tacoma driver reported pain after the crash.
The investigation remains ongoing.
