[09-24-2026] Kern County, CA – Two Taken To Hospital After Two-Vehicle Crash in Ridgecrest

Two people were taken to a hospital after a two-vehicle collision on Highway 178 at Pinto Street in Ridgecrest, Kern County, on Thursday morning, September 24, 2026.

The crash occurred shortly before noon and involved a Dodge Durango and a Kia K4 on Highway 178.

According to the preliminary investigation, a vehicle traveling westbound attempted to stop quickly while making a left turn onto Pinto Street. The Dodge Durango traveling behind the vehicle took evasive action, crossed the median, and entered the path of an eastbound Kia K4.

The Kia struck the rear passenger door of the Dodge Durango, causing the Durango to leave the roadway and come to rest in the vegetation beside the highway.

Two people were transported by ambulance to a hospital. One person suffered minor injuries, while another sustained moderate injuries.

The vehicle that initially stopped quickly did not collide with any vehicles and did not remain at the scene. The circumstances of the crash remain under investigation.
