[09-21-2026] San Diego County, CA – 47-Year-Old Man Killed After Being Struck By Vehicle in Escondido

A 47-year-old man died after being struck by a vehicle in Escondido on Monday evening, September 21, 2026.

According to the Escondido Police Department, the incident occurred at around 7:45 p.m. in the northbound lanes of Centre City Parkway near Ninth Avenue.

Police said the Escondido man stepped into the path of an approaching vehicle. A bystander provided medical aid before the pedestrian was transported to a hospital, where he died a short time later.

Authorities had not immediately released the pedestrian’s identity. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Police said drugs, alcohol, and speed on the part of the driver were not believed to be factors in the incident.

The investigation remains ongoing.
