[08-31-2026] Kern County, CA – Multi-Vehicle Crash Blocks Highway 99 Lanes in Bakersfield

A multi-vehicle crash blocked at least two lanes of Highway 99 in Bakersfield on Monday afternoon, August 31, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred at around 5:15 p.m. on northbound Highway 99 at Norris Road, near Exit 28.

At least two northbound lanes were blocked following the crash, and traffic was being diverted to Norris Road while crews responded to the scene.

Caltrans estimated that the affected lanes would remain closed for at least two hours.

Information regarding possible injuries or the number and types of vehicles involved was not immediately available.

The CHP continues to investigate the cause of the crash.
