[08-20-2026] San Mateo County, CA – Motorcyclist Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash on Highway 101 in East Palo Alto

A motorcyclist was killed in a hit-and-run crash on Highway 101 in East Palo Alto in San Mateo County on Thursday morning, August 20, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred around 6:05 a.m. on southbound Highway 101 next to the the University Avenue on-ramp.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not released the victim’s identity.

The investigation later led CHP officers to Leota Avenue in Sunnyvale, where the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety assisted. Authorities were seen near a dark, older-model Acura sedan that was subsequently towed, but CHP did not confirm whether the vehicle was involved in the fatal collision.

No information about a suspect was immediately available. The CHP continues to investigate the fatal hit-and-run crash.
