A pedestrian was injured after being struck by a vehicle following a fire hydrant crash that flooded a street in Gardena on Thursday, July 23, 2026.
According to reports, the incident began when a semi-truck backed into a fire hydrant, causing water to spray into the air and flood nearby businesses.
Authorities said an employee of Elite Auto Collision was crossing the street when he was struck by a driver attempting to pass through the flooded area. The pedestrian was not seriously injured following the collision.
The water damage severely affected nearby equipment and the building, forcing the auto shop to temporarily close for repairs.
