Two big rigs were involved in a collision on Interstate 80 near Truckee in Nevada County on Tuesday morning, July 14, 2026, resulting in minor injuries and significant traffic delays.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash was reported around 3:33 a.m. near the scales east of Truckee.
One tractor-trailer went over a concrete barrier, while another big rig pulling double trailers sustained damage that tore open both trailers.
Debris from the collision blocked all eastbound lanes, prompting CHP to stop traffic as crews responded. Multiple heavy-duty tow trucks were dispatched to recover the damaged vehicles.
Authorities reported that the collision caused only minor injuries. CHP continues to investigate the cause of the crash.
