[07-07-2026] Santa Clara County, CA – Pedestrian Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash in Gilroy

A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run crash at the intersection of 10th and Monterey streets in Gilroy on Tuesday evening, July 7, 2026.

According to the Gilroy Police Department, officers responded around 10:30 p.m. after reports of someone lying in the roadway. Emergency personnel provided life-saving measures, but the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Gilroy PD Major Accident Investigation Team took over the investigation. Authorities located the suspect vehicle shortly after the crash, but are still working to identify the driver.

The identity of the pedestrian has not been released pending notification of next of kin. The investigation remains active.
