[06-12-2026] San Joaquin County, CA – One Killed in Head-On Crash on Highway 88 in Stockton

A 26-year-old man was killed following a head-on collision on Highway 88 near Tokay Colony Road in San Joaquin County on Friday night, June 12, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 8:28 p.m. when a Honda traveling westbound crossed the double yellow lines and struck an eastbound Nissan head-on. The impact caused both vehicles to overturn.

The driver of the Nissan, who was the only occupant in the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene. Fire crews from the Waterloo Morada Fire District responded and assisted in extricating occupants from the damaged vehicles.

The Honda driver, identified as Mercedes V., along with two passengers, was transported to a hospital with injuries ranging from moderate to major. 

Authorities stated that the Honda driver was later arrested on suspicion of DUI and vehicular manslaughter.

The crash remains under investigation.
