[05-14-2026] Imperial County, CA – Pedestrian Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash in El Centro

A pedestrian was killed following a hit-and-run crash in El Centro on Thursday night, May 14, 2026.

According to the El Centro Police Department, officers responded to the incident at around 9:20 p.m. at the intersection of Imperial Avenue and Pico Avenue. When officers arrived, they found an adult male pedestrian suffering from critical injuries. 

Authorities stated that the pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle that fled the scene immediately. Emergency personnel attempted lifesaving measures, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators later identified and located the suspected vehicle and driver through witness statements and additional investigative leads. The driver was arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and-run causing death.

Authorities continue to investigate the crash.
