A 19-year-old man was killed in a chain-reaction crash on the Ventura (101) Freeway in Encino early Saturday morning, April 25, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash was reported around 1:48 a.m. on the northbound freeway south of White Oak Avenue.
Authorities stated that the incident began with a disabled black sedan blocking the No. 1 lane. A person exited the vehicle shortly before multiple vehicles became involved in a series of collisions. Reports indicated that at least four vehicles were involved, and at one point, a person was found trapped beneath a vehicle.
Emergency crews responded and used specialized equipment to lift one of the vehicles. The victim, later identified as Chaz C., was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
